The administrative status of French vessels strictly defined
as such carries the following conditions : - an
inspection
upon purchase or sale - a name - a nationality - a
registration as French -

REQUIRED - external identification
Boats put up for sale must already be in regulation with all
local taxes. Those boats exempt from taxes (due to change of residency, use
for tourism, cruiseships, etc.) must have their status regularized
at the Customs office.
The sale of a boat abroad is not subject to licensing, however
the boat must be reported on an export declaration with the Customs
office and the proceeds of the sale must be repatriated under the
conditions of Common Law.
Documents required :
BILL OF SALE (4 copies) stamped by Affaires Maritimes.
(Use the example in the CHARTS OF TIDES MARTINIQUE & GUADELOUPE
magazine or the printed form available
from Affaires Maritimes).
ACTE DE FRANCISATION showing proof of boat's registration
as French, navigation title showing registration with Affaires Maritimes
(orange registration book = yachts, blue = commercial or fishing).
FLAG DEREGISTRATION CERTIFICATE if buyer is foreign (4
copies).
STATISTICAL AND REGISTRATION
SHEETS in the name of the
buyer (2 copies), obtained from the Affmar office of the subdivision
where the boat is registered, or a request for annulment of registration
if the boat is sold abroad.
2 ID PHOTOS of the BUYER
PROOF OF RESIDENCY for the BUYER
FORM OF IDENTIFICATION (bring 1 photocopy)
Before buying or selling a boat, Customs recommends obtaining
a free registration sheet from their office, in addition to a mortgage
statement.
